Head Out Not Home is Norwich's summer festival of music and street theatre, taking place across the city centre over July and August.  It is commissioned by Norwich BID, and programmed and run by NORCA & Sistema in Norwich.

Although Head Out Not Home was cancelled in 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we are expecting it to go ahead in 2021, and a full programme has been put in place ready for confirmation of the lifting of Coronavirus restrictions.  The start has been put back from the planned start date and is now due to start on 25th July.

Since 2013, this staple of Norwich's summer has offered more than 300 acts over the 7 years that it has been able to run, including established local bands, such as The Vagaband, Alden, Patterson and Dashwood, Samia Malik, Georgia Shackleton Trio, Kilamonjambo, the Thinking Men, Lovin' Handful, and Impilo and world renowned street theatre (programmed with Covent Garden Entertainment) such as Betty Brawn, Akira, Mullet Man and Jarrdu.

In 2021, the festival will be moving to a Sunday and run from Sunday 25th July to Sunday 5th September (inclusive).  2021's sites will:

  • Gentleman's Walk (opposite Lloyds bank)

  • Westlegate

  • St Gregory's Green, and

  • Rotating between two of Millennium Plane, Tombland and Riverside

Since 2017, we have taken the opportunity to support young and up-and-coming acts, via our Platform Acts, especially working in partnership with other organisations.  This year's partners are:

  • Norwich Arts Centre (Sonic Youths)

  • Access Creative College

  • Young Norfolk Arts Trust

  • Norfolk Music Hub

We are always looking for volunteers to help us run Head Out Not Home, so please get in touch if you are interested.  Similarly, if you are band interested in performing, then please get in touch.
