Photos from our 'Portrait on a Nation' photo competition in 2008/09.

We are running a project for children taking part in Sistema in Norwich to submit a photo that sums up their lockdown experience, accompanied by a short paragraph (optional) to say something about the photograph and what lockdown has been like.

We will create a gallery of all the photos and offer prizes to the best three photos (judged by one of our Trustees, Dawn Rees, and photographer, Alex Lyons).

  • Children can enter up to 3 photographs each

  • The winners will be announced on 1st July 2020

  • Winners will be contacted by email

  • The judges will be looking for photos that tell a story - visual impact, composition, originality

  • The prizes will be a voucher of your choice: - 1st Prize £20,   2nd Prize £15 and 3rd Prize £10

Here are a few things to think about when taking photos:

  • Framing:  where the edges of the picture are.

  • Light:  is it too dark or too light?  Do you need a flash or not?

  • Composition:  what or who is in the photo?

There's lots of good tips, help and ideas online, like HERE.

Don't forget:

  • Make sure the photo is appropriate to share.

  • Make sure it has not got people in it that have not given their permission to be photographed (we will need to be able to send them a consent form to be able to include the photo in the gallery).

Photos must be submitted by 5pm on Fri 12th June

By email using the link below

  • please don't forget to include the child's name

  • all submissions must be accompanied by a consent form.  You can download and print the form on this page, or use the online consent form.

Don't forget, websites like WeTransfer can enable you to share big files for free, if any photo is too big to email.  Just use the email address in the link.
